The Olympian

Can the phrase “Spank the Donkey” bring 15 million Christians back to church?
Dave Simonsen and Dave Vahey, members of Emmanuel Bible Fellowship in Olympia, hope it will.
About six months ago, the two men launched a campaign that promotes this Sunday as “National Go to Church Day.”
“One day, we were sitting around talking about all of the people who don’t go to church who say they’re Christian,” said Simonsen, 37, of Lacey. “And we thought, ‘What’s the reason that those people don’t go?’ For the most part, the people we know that no longer go just want to sleep in on Sunday.”

We’re really surprised that Olympia would run this….crazy.

The Venus razor
Posted in Go To Church Day, Uncategorized with tags Christian, confession, husband, secret, shaving, wife on April 21, 2008 by lazydonkeydayAfter looking through my whole house I couldn’t find a razor to shave with. Well, I couldn’t find a MANLY razor. So I looked around to make sure no one was watching and used my wife’s Venus razor. I felt very unmanly, I mean i need to be using a TURBO Mach ultimate smooth action 4 bladed razor, but all I could find was a little pastel colored Venus razor with aloe…. I felt my manliness draining down the sink with the shaving cream. My face does feel remarkably silky and smooth. If I can admit that I used a woman’s razor, surely you can admit to…….??

Gee, I Should Go To Church Today
Posted in Uncategorized on January 24, 2008 by lazydonkeydayAgree/Disagree?
Article take from here…
It’s time to go back to the basics.
I don’t know any non-Christian who wakes up and thinks, “Gee, I should go to church today.” Churches need to find ways to make people think that very thought–whether it’s through billboards or outreach events or the incredible example of their members (or all three and more–my point, don’t get hung up on the method). If churches aren’t getting people to think that, then what are they doing?
Unfortunately, too many churches have settled for the status quo, the steady stream of Christians who do wake up thinking they should go to church, and for some churches that’s good enough. Those churches are social clubs, and useless. Sadly, many Christians are that way too.
—-I agree.

“It’s bible thumpers like you that I don’t go to church! Now take me off your d$@& email list”-Jennifer H.
“simply, thank you!”- Bethany A.
“What a wonderful idea!!! Could we in Australian join in?”-Andrew S.
“I think National Go to Church Day is a great idea in theory, and I believe every Christian should be an active participating member in a local church body, but I don’t think the reason many Christian’s don’t go is because they are lazy. I think a lot of is has to do with their attitude toward the church, and in many cases something that happened involving the church. I know for a very long time both of my parent’s did not attend church because they grew up in the “Turn or Burn” church atmosphere and could not stand the hypocrisy or the constant judgement. But I do like the fact that these guys are encouraging people to get up and go, and for that I support them”. -Daniel G
“I don’t go to church because of people like you. I was a “hard core” church thumper. When our Pastor, talked about Sunday morning Christians, I was proud to be a much more church involved member. Poppycock. Since I left the church, I have since done way more, for way more needy people, than I ever did at church. For the sake of Jesus, instead of bringing someone back to the pews, to pay for the building. Demolish the buildings and use the extra money to save the world. When you remove religion from church, and reinsert Jesus, then I’ll go back.” -Michelle T
